Everything is a hand applied, finish that is layered to build a beautiful glossy finish that is unmatched  by any sprayed finish. This finish is what was originally  used on many period antiques, from Empire to Biedermeier to French Art Deco pieces. A time tested method of finishing furniture, French Polishing has been employed by carpenters and ebonists worldwide , for centuries. The hand applied (shellac based) finish allows for future touch ups  and repairs  if needed. Sprayed finishes  are not  so forgiving  and require  costly stripping.
