French Polishing is a hand applied, finish that is layered to build a beautiful glossy finish that is unmatched by any sprayed finish. This finish is what was originally used on many period antiques, From Empire to Biedermeier to French Art Deco pieces. A time tested method of finishing furniture, French Polishing has been employed by carpenters and ebonises worldwide, for centuries. The hand applied (shellac based) finish allows for future touch ups and repairs if needed. Sprayed finishes are not so forgiving and require costly stripping.
Dariusz also can restore a painted, stained or ebonized finish. Items can sometimes be restored, retaining the original finish, depending on the condition and original finish used. Other items require stripping, repair and total restoration. Strict attention is paid to each detail, from color matching the veneer repair of metal polishing. Dariusz takes great pride in his work and excellent reputation, insuring a final product that will bring you beauty and added value to your antique.
